If you’re running Windows 10 Creators Update in the organization and have locked down the PCs so that they can only run apps from the Windows Store – but you need specific non-Windows Store apps to be able to install, do this:
- Follow the instructions for Limiting Application Installation Sources in Windows 10 Creators Update to locate the area where you control allowable app source locations.
- Change the setting to Allow apps from anywhere and then install the application that needs to run on the computer.
- After the non-Window Store application has installed, change the setting back to Allow apps from the Store only.
With the application installed and the setting changed back, the computer will now only be able to install Windows Store apps again, BUT the needed application is now “whitelisted” and will run as normal.
